Bus Out (Fan Game)

This is an unofficial fan game inspired by the bus-parking puzzle games seen in mobile ads. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the makers of those games.

A traffic-jam escape and passenger-sorting puzzle. The bottom of the screen is a packed lot of 83 cars, vans and buses, each with an arrow on its roof. Tap a vehicle and it drives out the way its arrow points, round to one of six parking spots. A crowd of colored passengers keeps circling a little island like a carousel, with more people waiting up two roads behind it. Whenever people pass the gate at the bottom of the ring, those whose color matches a parked vehicle with a free seat get on. Fill a vehicle and it drives away, freeing its spot. If all six spots are taken and nobody who can still reach the gate fits any of them, it's PARKING FULL.

How to Play

  1. Press PLAY on the title screen.
  2. Tap a vehicle. If nothing is in front of its arrow all the way to the edge of the lot, it drives out to a free parking spot. If something is in the way, it bumps into it and slides back.
  3. The ring of people keeps turning round the island (left along the bottom, up the left side, across the top, down the right side). Each row that passes the gate at the bottom lets everyone whose color has a parked vehicle with a free seat get on; the others ride round again. A car seats 4, a van 8 and a bus 12; the white dots on a parked vehicle show its filled seats.
  4. Boarding leaves gaps in the ring. When an empty row passes the top of one of the two roads, the front row of people waiting there steps into it.
  5. A full vehicle drives off and its spot opens up again.
  6. PARKING FULL: all six spots are taken and no one on the ring (or about to step onto it from a road) fits any of them.
  7. ALL ABOARD!: every passenger has boarded (772 in all).
  8. Score = passengers boarded.
  9. On the result screen, PLAY AGAIN restarts and HOME returns to the title. After ALL ABOARD! the buttons are a blue ∞ ENDLESS MODE and HOME (no PLAY AGAIN).

Endless Mode

Endless mode opens up once you reach ALL ABOARD!:

  • From the ALL ABOARD! screen: press ∞ ENDLESS MODE to carry on with your score.
  • From the title: once you have cleared the lot, a blue ∞ ENDLESS button appears under PLAY for good. It starts a fresh lot with the score at 772 (the passengers of a full lot), so both ways share one endless best.
  • The lot grows back: whenever fewer than 45 vehicles are left, new vehicles pop in, mostly packed right next to the ones already there, in runs of 4–7 of one color.
  • Always clearable: a new vehicle is only placed where its own way out is clear at that moment, so it can always leave before anything it might block.
  • New vehicles' passengers join the back of the shorter road, newest vehicle first, same colors kept together.
  • There is no win: it goes on until PARKING FULL.
  • The top bar shows ∞ BEST (saved separately) and the result screen shows ∞ PASSENGERS BOARDED. After an endless run, PLAY AGAIN starts a new endless run.

Features

  • The ad's lot: all 83 vehicles were traced one by one from the ad: same positions, sizes, colors and arrow directions. One arrow is changed: in the ad a yellow bus (→) and a green bus (←) face each other across the pink van in the same row, so neither could ever leave; the yellow one points ← here.
  • Always clearable: the passenger order is a real order in which the lot can be emptied, with same colors grouped so the crowd forms big solid blocks. The first rows fill the ring (those reaching the gate first get the first rows) and the rest wait on the two roads. As in the ad, the pink passengers (12 of them, for the one pink bus) are always on the ring from the start, across the top of the island. A new order is drawn every game, so the same lot plays differently each time.
  • The crowd: people stand 4 abreast, one color per row. The ring turns at a steady pace (about 7 seconds a lap, 38 rows of 4 on the ring); people stepping in from a road blend smoothly into their moving row, and the rows on the roads shuffle up behind them.
  • Smooth corners: the ring has generously rounded ends, and on every bend people on the squeezed inside are drawn a little smaller and those on the stretched outside a little bigger, so the crowd turns the corner as one solid mass instead of piling up inside and leaving gaps outside. Each road leaves the ring straight out sideways before bending up, so the waiting crowd never brushes the ring.
  • Driving: a freed vehicle drives straight out, round the edge of the lot and up into its spot, speeding up as it goes; a blocked one bumps the vehicle in front and slides back.
  • Title screen: a self-playing demo drives vehicles out and boards passengers behind the big BUS OUT logo (marked FAN GAME) and PLAY button.
