Satisfying Brick Breaker (Sky X)

This is an unofficial fan game inspired by a pixel brick-breaker clip seen on social media. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the makers of that game.

A brick-breaker where the ball has to sneak in: a 50 × 50 wall of sky-blue bricks. The whole bottom edge is solid steel, and the only way in is the mouth of a steel-lined channel. Slip the ball in, let it rattle through the channel and chew the wall from the inside, then catch the power-ups that fall out and turn one ball into hundreds.

This version has a wall of its own, not copied from any clip. It plays like the versions copied from clips and keeps its own best scores.

The Wall

A one-brick-wide channel rises from the mouth up the middle to half the height of the wall, where it opens into an X: four slanted arms, each a staircase of single bricks lined with a single staircase of steel on each side, run up-left, up-right, down-left and down-right. All four arm ends are open. The two lower arms run back down on either side of the channel. Unlike the other versions, this wall was not copied from a clip.

There are 2,167 bricks to break.

How to Play

  1. Press PLAY on the title screen.
  2. Drag anywhere (or move the mouse) to steer the paddle; on a keyboard, use ← / → (or A / D).
  3. The ball waits on the paddle with a dotted aim line going straight up. Line it up with the mouth and let go to launch it straight up (or press Space / ↑). It never launches by itself.
  4. Grey steel never breaks. A ball that misses the mouth just bounces back down.
  5. Items are hidden in bricks when each game starts and drop only when their brick breaks: +3, ×3, —, ↔ and | (13 / 13 / 6 / 6 / 2), plus 3 × ★. 12 of them sit near the four open arm ends, where the ball first gets at the wall. Catch them with the paddle:
    • +3 (cyan): three new balls fly up from the paddle.
    • ×3 (green): every ball on screen splits into three.
    • — (peach): a floor appears at the bottom for 8 seconds so no ball is lost.
    • ↔ (dark green): the paddle grows 1.3× wider for 12 seconds.
    • | (pink): for 4 seconds the paddle fires laser shots straight up that pass through steel and pierce every brick in their column.
    • ★ (gold star): the three result-screen stars. Stars fall twice as fast, and a missed star is gone.
  6. Score = bricks broken. The bar above the wall fills up as the wall disappears.
  7. No lives: the moment the last ball falls, it is Game over. Break every brick and You win!
  8. On the result screen: PLAY AGAIN restarts and HOME returns to the title. After a win the buttons are ENDLESS MODE and HOME.

Endless Mode

  • Opens up once you have cleared the wall: press ENDLESS MODE on the You win! screen, or the ENDLESS button that then stays on the title.
  • An endless run starts with the wall broken and the score at 2167, from either way in, so both share one endless best (saved apart from the normal best).
  • The wall grows back every time a ball bounces off the paddle, from any surface inward and only where there were bricks at the start, so the channel always stays open. The emptier the wall, the more each bounce grows. Nothing grows on or next to a ball.
  • Regrown bricks hide items at the same rate as the first wall. There is no win; it is Game over when the last ball falls, and PLAY AGAIN starts a new endless run.

Design

  • Portrait layout that fits phones and computer screens alike: title (with a self-playing demo) → play → result.
  • Flat pixel look in the style of the other versions: sky-blue bricks, grey steel, white balls and a flat coral paddle. The blocky Press Start 2P font everywhere.
  • Retro square-wave ticks for bricks, a ping-pong "tock" off steel, chimes for power-ups and a fanfare for a win.
  • The title and result screens show "Please subscribe and like!" at the bottom.
